Welcome
Chet Turner Films has brought unusual, horrifying movies into production since 2018. We avoid vampires, zombies , serial killers, the remote cabin and other tired horror tropes . Horror based on poor decisions people make is our leitmotif. As an independent film production company we attempt to show audiences things that they have not seen before , an alternative view of life. The darkness in our films is leavened with humor and insight into basic human nature.
These films fill people with exquisite unease. At one film festival in Düsseldorf Germany, a fourth of the audience walked out of a screening of our film Paying Up, in horror and disgust: we were so proud.
While we produce mostly horror films, we have also produced music videos for the outstanding death metal band The Promise of Plague, and more recently a modernist version of Oscar Wilde’ s classic play Salome.Our modernist take on the Oscar Wilde play Salome presents elements of horror in this classic literary work. We are planning to bring our special touch to the ancient Greek tragedy Agamemnon in 2025.
In 2024 we are planning the first of a series of children’s movies, to test a new direction.

Great Movies
Unlike many independent film productions , we use high end equipment. Most of our films use RED Cinema Camera Packages. We have filmed utilizing the 6K RED Komodo, 5K RED Scarlet, and 8K RED Weapon with a variety of high end glass lenses.
Our most recent production Salome, required a 1-5ton truck full of the best and latest lighting supplied by Eclipse Lighting&Grip of Louisville KY for G&E. The results are sharpe ,clearly defined frames that please audiences.
Meet Our Team
To create these frightening gems, we team with some of the best indie filmmakers and actors in America’s Heartland. We find the gritty rust belt settings in Ohio, Kentucky and North Carolina a welcome contrast to the sun drenched look alike sets of Southern California. Actors from these areas give an authenticity to our films that engage viewers more than the glamour of New York.
